Crochet while traveling in an RV - Alaska Trip

I actually learned how to make a star on our family summer vacation to Alaska and then I forgot.  I had to teach myself all over again to make these!  Has that ever happened to you?  Well, if it hasn’t just don’t tell me…ha!

I created a few small projects while sitting at pretty campsites.  It was a fabulous crafty time.

Gather your supplies…pretty yarn, a hook and some scissors.

Size hook – I/9

Big Twist Yarns  {Chunky – 5} 100% acrylic – Seabreeze #12021

Time to crochet…

  • Start by chaining 2
  • Create the Center – Crochet 10 HDC {half double crochet} in the first stitch you made.  It will be a tight fit, but it will work out fine.  Join the top of the first HDC with a SS {slip stitch}.  This will complete the first round.
  • Create 5 Points – Chain 4.  SS {slip stitch} into the 2nd chain from the hook.  Crochet 1 SC {single crochet} into the next stitch working your way back down.  Then 1HDC into the last stitch near the center of the star.
  • Important Step – Skip one HDC {working around the center} and SS into the next HDC to finish your first point.  Repeat this 4 more times.
  • When I complete the last stitch I take the hook and pull the yarn to the back and tie a knot to secure it.  Easy Peasy!!!
