No Sew Pillow Tutorial

I Love Red Toile!

img86m

Our house is decorated in bright tropical colors and simple accessories, so I don’t use much toile. But the look of this bedroom is really one of my favorites. I love color, and this bedding has just the right amount of red.

I’ve decided to add just a touch of red toile to my room with an accent pillow. {In a super easy and cheap way!}

Here’s the “no sew pillow” that I made in less than 10 minutes!

pillowa (1)

The possibilities are endless, and I’m sure there will be more than one of these pillows in my home soon.

All you need is some pretty fabric, a piece of foam, and a little bit of ribbon and tassels.

Ready?

pillowroll-1

The foam can be any size. The one I used is about 16 inches wide and I found it on a scrap pile at JoAnn Fabrics.

Roll it up tightly.

pillow3-1

I folded the fabric in on each side so that the edges were near the center. This allows for a clean edge on the pillow.

I have about 4- 5 inches of fabric on each side of the foam.

pillow4-1

Roll it up!

pillow5

I wrapped ribbon tightly around the ends and just tied it in the back with a knot.

pillow7

Repeat on the other side and fluff the ends slightly.

pillow8

I added a strand of tassels to spice it up a bit.

Ta da! One accent pillow finished and ready to add to your room!

Can you believe how fast you can do this?

It took less than 10 minutes and I love how it turned out!

I’m sure this isn’t my last no sew accent pillow! I was surprised myself at just how simple this was and how great it turned out! If it falls apart I can tie it back up in no time flat, but it seems like it will work out great!

What do you think? Have you ever made a no sew pillow?

~Kim

What a great idea! I love toile also. When the girls were little I had several bags made that were toile to carry all their stuff in.

[…] Do you cut into a favorite piece of fabric to make a project, or use a less favorite piece that you won’t be as sad to see leave your stash.  It’s a common predicament for a sewist.  Kim from Everything Etsy has the solution, at least  for making decor pillows.  Instead of cutting and sewing a roll pillow cover, she wraps and ties it.  It’s the textile version of having your cake and eating it, too.  Get the how-to.  […]
