Etsy Seller Featured Interview on EverythingEtsy.com - Hooked by Angel

 Today’s featured Etsy shop is Hooked by Angel!

If you are looking for a creative gift for your pet loving friends you will find it here! Angel takes coffee cozies to a whole new level.  You seriously have to visit her shop and see all the designs she has to offer.

Angel is part of my Business Bliss Society group on Facebook and she flat out rocks her Etsy shop!  I asked Angel a few questions to give you a peek into her creative world.

What do you make/sell?

I’m designing a series of mug cozies which resemble different dog breeds.  I’ve mastered over 50 breeds now!  I sell the finished items as well as crochet patterns and kits so others can make them as well.

 What inspired you to make the leap to actually selling your creations?

It all started with a special gift idea for my parents.  I decided to crochet them a cozy that looked like their beloved Maltese, Mickey.  Their reaction was priceless, my mom even gave it a kiss!  I shared the gift in Facebook crochet groups and others loved it too. They asked me to try different breeds which I did and begged me to write the crochet patterns.  It blossomed into a fun creative business!

What have you had to overcome to make it successful?  {Did you have to learn new skills, etc?}

I didn’t know anything about running a business and my computer skills were seriously lacking.  I was cleaning houses at the time and would listen to Podcasts about everything to do with running a successful Etsy shop and crochet business for hours each day.  When I got home I would implement what I learned.  It was like peeling an onion, so many layers.  It made my brain hurt but I kept going!

What is your favorite thing about your business?

The favorite thing about my business is writing the crochet patterns.  I look at a photo of the dog breed and recreate it in yarn.  It is so rewarding when the finished design looks so much like the real dog.  But, what I love the most is when others share what they have made from my patterns with me.  It still amazes me that something created in my brain can be recreated by another crocheter.

A bit more from Angel…

I’m no longer cleaning houses!!  My Etsy shop is my full-time job.  I was completely amazed that I made over $37,000 last year.  I have never worked harder but it is so much fun it doesn’t feel like work at all.

I’m also so excited to have been featured in Simply Crochet Magazine and Ohio Magazine.  The photo attached was from the Ohio Magazine feature.

Here is the link to my Etsy shop.  I hope it makes you smile!
