It just spammed out my comment so I will try again. I wanted to tell you Kim I’ve been reading up on your blog but haven’t had chance to tell you how much I liked this tutorial for the red crochet hearts. I whipped up a few and (safety) pinned them onto the front of some brown kraft paper and send them to the kids next door with a few bucks for valentines day. They really liked them.
    Thanks again!

hi 🙂 thank you for great tutorial, very easy to follow. For some reason I keep ending up with a big hole in centre of my crochet heart, is there something I’m doing wrong? Hope you can help 🙂

Okay, I think I figured it out! I was crocheting under one loop of the chain instead of two. I tried it again under both loops and although it was more difficult for me, the hole was much smaller 🙂

Kim, this is the best-looking and simplest crochet pattern for a heart that I have ever seen. If you’d like a hand-drawn diagram for visual crocheters like myself, I’ll be happy to send a pdf to you. Best,
    Rumi

I just don’t get how you avoid having a big hole in the center. Mine isn’t staying tight like your example. Cute pattern when I can do it and pull on the strings at the end to tighten the heart, but I don’t always know how I start one to make that work! What am I doing wrong?!
