DIY Play Dough Recipe - No Cook with Essential Oils - EverythingEtsy.com

Looking for the best DIY Play Dough Recipe ever??

This is it!  There’s no cooking involved!  It smells and feels amazing…for real.  I need to keep some of this on my desk as a stress reliever!

Over time I have tried a few play dough recipes only to be a little unhappy with the results.  It turns out it’s actually very easy if you know the right way to do it.  Save the trouble and try this homemade play dough first!

I wish you could smell this!  I made mine with Lavender, Lime and Lemon.

Here’s what you’ll need…

  • 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of boiling water
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar
  • Essential oils
  • Food Coloring

I only use doTERRA Essential Oils – Order some here or read about why I use them here.

In a large bowl or mixer {I used my pretty red kitchen aid mixer…woot!} combine flour, salt, cream of tartar and the vegetable oil.  Mix it together.

Slowly add the boiling water and mix until it’s completely combined.

Remove the play dough and divide it into three equal sections.

We’ll make each section a different one…Lavender, Lemon and Lime.

Put one section at a time back in the bowl.  For the first batch, add 5-6 drops of Lavender essential oil and a few drops red and blue food coloring.  Mix well.

Remove it once it’s the perfect color, and repeat for the other two using Lemon essential oil and yellow food coloring for one, and Lime essential oil and green food coloring.

You will not believe how amazing these smell and feel!

Store them in air tight containers.  I’ve had mine for months an they are still perfect!
