DIY Lavender Body Butter - Recipe on EverythingEtsy.com

Looking for a quick handmade gift?  Maybe a DIY wedding favor?  This Handmade Lavender Body Butter only uses a few ingredients and can be whipped up in minutes!

I’m a big fan of projects that look amazing and take little effort.  Lazy?  Maybe, but I’ll just call it “my style” and leave it at that.  Simple and beautiful works for me!

Since I started using essential oils more and more I really began to pay attention to what’s in all those beauty products at the store.  Well, when you can’t pronounce it you probably shouldn’t lather it all over you…don’t you think???

Body butter is so simple to make, and you will enjoy knowing that it’s made with all-natural ingredients.  The benefits from Lavender essential oil is an added bonus!  When you’re finished you’ll have your own little spa treatment in a jar!

Use whatever size jar you want and make a whole batch at once.  Share with your friends!  They make great party favors, wedding favors, teacher gifts…you get the idea.

wooden spoons

I’m going to start off by sharing these awesome little wooden spoons that are cheap and oh so cool to tie onto the jar with some twine!  I didn’t want to forget to mention them because they’re perfect for body butter.

You are going to be seeing these in lots of upcoming projects!

Here’s how you make them…

  • 1 cup shea butter
  • 1/2 cup of solid coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup sweet almond oil
  • 10-20 drops of Lavender Essential Oil {buy it from me!}
  • Glass jar with airtight lid
  • Wooden spoons {a must!}

I only use doTERRA Essential Oils…click here to get more information about them.

I’ve included the Amazon links above to make your shopping easier. I plan out most of my projects this way and get it all deliver right to my door…love it. It also helps you to see exactly what products I used.

Time to mix it up…

Melt together the coconut oil, almond oil and shea butter using a double boiler {or a microwave…just watch it close}.  Stir until it’s completely melted.

Place it in the refrigerator to cool and become solid.

Remove and add your essential oils.  Whisk with a stand up mixer or hand mixer until it’s whipped up all creamy and pretty.  Spoon it into your jars and seal with an airtight lid.

That’s it…I told you it was easy!

If you are interested in learning more about essential oils I can help!  I’ve been using them for over 5 years and I’m always amazed at how well they work for everything from aromatherapy to occasional sinus discomfort.  Read more about the essential oils I use right here.

You can alter the recipe to fit your mood…

Try Lavender to relax you, Peppermint to invigorate, special blends to help with seasonal threats {ask me about this one} and so much more!  Just a couple drop of oil can do so much, but you do want to use high quality essential oils.

Body butter melts when it get warm, so keep it in a cool spot.  It turns clear once it touches your skin.  Massage it in for the most amazing soft skin ever!

If this sounds like your kind of project, then you will love these…

    This whipped up beautifully. I took it out of the fridge after about an hour, whipped it, and put it back.
    15 minutes later whipped it again and it turned into a beautiful creamy lotion. Upon trying it I found that it is very greasy. I lowered the almond oil to 1/4 for fear of being greasy and it was still too much. Thank you for the recipe. I’ll try again, but will substitute the coconut oil.
