This is packaging I used for jewelry a couple years ago. I used fabric scraps to create a colorful drawstring bag that I felt my customers would enjoy. Even though it’s pretty, I now consider it a “Packaging Fail” in my book.
Here’s why…
I thought I would enjoy using up my fabric scraps and sewing each bag. I did…for awhile. But, when it hits holiday season {and you’re leaving on vacation} you don’t want to have to worry about sewing tons of bags for your extra holiday sales. Uh, not good.
Keep your packaging simple, but pretty! Don’t go overboard and make it too hard on yourself. Packaging doesn’t have to be crazy time consuming or expensive to make an impression. I hope you see that in some of the examples above.

I like to wrap my items in pretty tissue paper and then tie a coordinating organza ribbon around the paper with a sweet tag on top. I like for my customers to feel like they have received a gift when they open their box!

I put my tags and cards in a cellophane bag and seal it with a handmade seal. I tie each group of tags or cards with a ribbon before I put them in the cellophane. I really liked the first packaging idea up top, so I think I’m going to work on a little kraft-paper packet for tags similar to that, using the concept of a gift card holder. Thanks for the ideas!

Ach! I have struggled with packaging since I opened my shop. The smaller items like clips and hair pins are quite a bit easier than my headbands. Because the shape of each headband and fascinator, I have found no good way to package them. I have a hard enough time packing them in a way so that the feathers and bows don’t get bent during shipping. I would love some suggestions!
Hey Anne! I see how you might have trouble with the headbands. The puffy envelopes don’t help? Maybe wrapped in tissue paper and in the envelope? It seems hard to send each one in a box. I wish I could help more. I started selling on Etsy with hair clips and I loved how easy they were to mail. Shipping can be such an issue!

I wrap my products in white tissue paper, afraid to use color paper which would look prettier, but everything I sell is fabric and I’m afraid color might be bleeding into the fabric, I tie the package up with colorful yarn and a pretty thank you note.
I have to remember to take photo’s to add to side bar photo’s on product description page.

I like to use those small 3×4 colorful mesh bags for my jewelry. I then use pretty ribbon to tie the thank you card and complement scrap-booking paper behind that.
Any ideas for pretty packaging for large items such as my tutu tote bags? They pretty much fit inside the mailing box, so there is not a lot of room for much else.

I always liked cute packages and most of the time I just keep them and don’t try them away just for the sake of being pretty!
For a while I’ve been thinking of package ideas for my plushies but I come up with nothing. I tried the draw string bag but like you said it tends to take up a lot of time to make. Do you have some package ideas for bigger products you can share, please?
I have been trying to figure out some packaging ideas for the last couple of months. I have larger items such as wall decals and wooden monograms so wrapping them isn’t really an option.
