Here’s a little fact about me…I love paper! Yes, I seriously get excited about pretty notebooks. I’ve always been that way, and I’m known to hoard all types of paper, washi tape and stickers. I guess it could be worse…lol!
Today I’m sharing how I made these simple and sweet notebooks that are perfect for your purse, backpack or even your pocket. These colorful DIY notebooks make great gifts anytime of the year. Share them with students or add them to gift baskets…everyone can use a couple pretty notebooks to make their day a little brighter!
Colorful DIY Notebooks
They can be made in minutes with just a few supplies.
The washi tape makes all the difference…it’s amazing! Who doesn’t love washi tape??!! This is just another wonderful way to use it. {enough washi tape love…I’ll move on now}
Supplies:
- Mini composition notebooks
- colorful paper
- colorful washi tape
- scissors
- pen
I found this wrapping paper at Michael’s for a dollar a roll. The washi tape is Scotch Brand and can be found at Target. You can find the mini notebooks in dollar stores, but I think I found them at Michaels in a set of two. I hope that helps. 
Start by opening your notebook and tracing around it.
Cut in from the lines you traced {they are just a guide} so you leave room for your washi tape to stick to the front of your notebook all the way around the edges. Not too hard.
Start adding washi tape. Leave enough tape to wrap around the edges.
Once you get all the way around the front just trim up any odd pieces sticking out. Then wrap it around the edges.
Wrap it around, trim away extra washi tape near the spine of the notebook, and trim the corners to make them rounded.
That’s it!
Wasn’t that easy?
It’s a great little project that makes a sweet gift for your friends.

Your notebooks are SO cute! What a fun surprise to give along with a colorful pen for “back to school teachers”. The wrapping paper is darling. The Michaels store here doesn’t carry wrapping paper. 🙁
Thanks so much! Just so you know, this paper was found in a dollar {and $2} row in the store. It has a little of everything in it. The paper was $2, but it was marked on sale for a dollar! They had little matching note cards that I bought, and the pen in the post is from the same row. 🙂
