The Christmas ornaments my daughter made as a child still go on the tree every year. Now, my favorite is a set of cut outs and pictures made by my oldest grandson at preschool. He chose them for me on one of my visits and we arranged them in a frame with his very first set of crayon marks as a background.

When I was 15 my little sister (then 13) somehow sneaked into my room and found my stash of quilt blocks I had cut to make my first quilt… but had let languish for a year or two. Unbeknownst to me, she spent hours putting my quilt together in secret, even going so far as to fluff the depressed carpet under the sewing chair feet with a fork so that I wouldn’t be suspicious that someone had been toiling there! While I suspect some people would’ve been disappointed that they didn’t get to work on their quilt, I was only interested in the end product and was overjoyed that she had done the tedium for me. Now, more than a decade later, it’s still the quilt I cuddle up in when I’m sick or blue. <3

My brother built me a custom thread and ribbon organizer in his woodshop for my birthday last year, and he etched my new little business tagline into it, to show his incredible support of my dream. It is beautiful, as a finished piece, but also the weeks of love he put into it. I was so touched at the support he gave me, and the piece he built.
