Creative Camps for Adults

Creative Camps for Adults Rock!

Why should kids get to have all the fun??  Wouldn’t you love to go off for a week {or even a day…or a few hours…20 minutes?} and enjoy learning something new while hanging out with creative freaks like yourself?  I know I would!

We‘re spending most of our summer in North Carolina and I’m finding inspiration at every new turn.  There’s a difference in the type of creativity you see in different areas of the country and I can’t help but want to learn something new while we’re here.

Wouldn’t you like to learn something new?  Check out these super cool classes and camps that are sure to inspire you to a new level of awesomeness!

Not far from us there’s John C.Campbell Folk School located in Brasstown, North Carolina!  Hmmm…I might have to stop by and check it out in person.

Enjoy learning batik dyeing, basketry, calligraphy and more on this 300-acre camp located in the beautiful Smoky Mountains!  They offer family-style meals with organic produce grown right on the property!  Sounds cool, doesn’t it?  Visit folkschool.org for all the details and the latest information.

Santa Fe is one of my all-time favorite destinations and I would jump up and down with sheer joy if I could spend a few days at Santa Fe Photographic Workshops!

Workshops include subjects like digital photography and Adobe Photoshop while you are located in an active monastery near the Sangre de Cristo Mountain.  You know that sounds awesome!

I just noticed a workshop for dog photography…oh my gosh!  How fun!  Check out all the information at santafeworkshops.com.

Imagine the cool stuff you could make if you were able to spend a bit of time at The Steel Yard in Providence, Rhode Island!  Learn ceramics, stone setting, or blacksmithing just to name a few creative classes.  Oh, and you’ll also enjoy awesome food while your there…what more could you want???

Get all the details for current courses at The Steel Yard.

How about a quilting get-a-way?  You will love Country Threads!

There’re so many creative courses available all over the world…just look for them!  You might find a new type of craft that you can’t live without.

To find a few more cool summer camp ideas, check out this lovely article in Country Living Magazine.

If you would like to add a camp to this list, please leave the information in the comments and I’ll take a look!

Camps aren’t just for kids! 🙂

Hi! Have you checked out Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center? If you’re close to John C Campbell Folk School, you’re probably not too far from Stecoah http://www.stecoahvalleycenter.com

    Love your blog!

The crew at Design Build Adventure does all manner of cool stuff (poke around the site a little) and runs a camp a couple times a year. The camps are really great in that they center around coming together for a few days and positively impacting a community via service projects.

I hope to make a trip out to Marfa to experience one of these DBA Camps soon.
