Working On The Road

Do you take your work with you on the road?

We had to travel a bit today for an appointment and I usually bring a project or two with me.  My Etsy shops are full of small felt hair clips and jewelry, so that’s possible for me.

Here’s a peek at one of my newest projects that I’ll be sharing with you soon…

felt project 1

Of course it involves felt, but I don’t think you can guess what it is.  It does have polka dots…and more dots in a beautiful red.  I really love red!

So, as I’m sitting, just waiting in a waiting room, I’d love to hear how you travel with your craft supplies.  Do you take them with you?  Do you have a box or special bag??  Do you only take fun projects with you, or do you take your WORK with you? {lots of question, huh?}

Happy Monday!

~Kim

    I used to have this cool little project runway tackle box that I would carry my stuff in…then we went on a train trip and I had brought lots of stuff to work on…I finished a bunch and then on the last train ride to go home…It got left under the seat…:( I was sick for a while about that…But I got over it and started up again. I bought a new box and I carry my stuff with me all the time. I love trips cuz I get lots done in the car! 🙂

    Yes! I do this too. While waiting for my girls at ballet, car lines, allergy shots, etc. It’s great advertisement actually – I’ve handed out tons of business cards!

    Most things I make I can’t carry with me, but I bring along woven headbands and sewing supplies for satin hair flowers in a little plastic organizing box. I think it’s actually a jewelry box. I got it a Joann’s.

    I am so bad that I take stuff with me to work, so that I can create during my lunch hour. It’s a 1/2 hour drive from home to the office, so I pack lunch and some small project that I can work on in the break room. I find it relaxing to have a break with my crafts and actually produce something for my shops at the same time.

    I love that pretty cupcake! It’s fun to work with felt! I carry an art bag with me everywhere I go. I’ve posted about it! lol It’s a big school type bag with sketch pads, paper, pencils, colored pencils, pens…even a coloring book! I love just going through it and seeing the possibilities! Hugs! ♥

    I make scrapbooks and they’re not really a “portable” craft…so I spend my travel and waiting time sifting through artsy magazines (like anything from Stampington) and inspiring books (like Taking Flight from Kelly Rae Roberts). I love using those times to renew my creative energy!

    We drive to NY quite often (7hrs) and I always have a project. Needle felting, knitting, crochet or needlepunch are all great for traveling.

    PS…once I made bags and bags of colorful yo-yo’s!

    ALWAYS have knitting or crocheting with me even on short shopping trips because DH likes to look more than I do so I say “Take your time”,head to the car and work! For long trips, what supplies I take is as important as what clothes I pack.

    Usually the things I work on use different threads so only when I’m working on same color items can I take them along with me. I did make a needle case to hold scissors, needles, a few cards of thread and the project(s). Here is a pic: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=399407044627&set=a.91423664627.82853.61926404627

    I have had two hip replacements and spent a lot of time waiting in dr, xray etc waiting rooms. I like applique, so I just put it in a wristlet I have made.
