My husband, Tim, got his first pair of prescription eyeglasses last week, the day before he turned 40. While that normally might be frustrating, we were thrilled because a previous opinion had told him glasses wouldn’t help and that he needed eye surgery.

Wrong first opinion? Miraculous answer to lots of fervent prayer? Both? In any case, he can see great and he’s been wearing his new prescription sunglasses all weekend with a big smile on his face.

It made me think of the song I stole this post’s title from.

But you know what? That’s not the only thing making me think of that song. Etsy is making me think of that song. Handmade is making me think of that song. The Internet is making me think, a lot, about that song.

I missed it the first time around, but I read over the weekend that the President said that just about anyone could be successful selling their products in America today with an Internet connection.

Of course, we already knew that, but he apparently said that (or something along those lines) in the State of the Union Address. That’s a sign of a bright future for online sellers.

Speaking of my husband again, he’s been a building contractor for most of his life. That’s the kind of work that can be hard to succeed at if there aren’t enough people around. That’s one of the reasons he stopped doing that type of work when we moved from a big city to a small town.

If you sell on Etsy, you don’t have that problem. The Internet is huge. Millions of transactions take place every day. Your opportunity is right there.

A case in point is this weekend’s featured Etsy seller. BossysFeltworks sells from a little known place called Orcas Island. We spent a few nights on Orcas Island a couple of years ago and can’t wait to go back. Orcas is outlandishly beautiful, but it is no bustling metropolis. Selling local only would be a limited market on Orcas.

But BossysFeltworks does the same thing I do and the same thing all Etsy sellers do. They ship things all over the place. All over the globe! All the time!

If you find yourself getting frustrated or tired. I hope you decide to keep pushing. There is no stopping you as long as you don’t quit. Keep trying to improve. Keep researching. Keep reading.

Keep Making Stuff!

If you’re selling online now, you’re in on this thing early. If you’re thinking about it, jump in, the future is bright!

What do you think about this? I love, love, love the idea of storing fabric in vintage suitcases!

I have two of these beauties that I’ve been dying to use for sometime special. And I’m planning on printing out some of these sweet little labels from Just Something I Made. Go download some for yourself!

Cut Out and Keep has a great download to help you remember what fabric you have. Hmmm…anyone out there have this problem? I can’t wait to do this…talk about organized! Woo hoo!

This way I’ll know exactly the colors I need when I find a sale. That’s important!

Here are some beautiful canvas storage bins at Holly’s Street. I use baskets for storage, but this looks so much better. Don’t you love how pretty the colors look popping out of the top? I could have some fun with this little collection of fabric!

The Sometimes Crafter will show you how to make these cute fabric scrap baskets. I hate to throw away pieces I might be able to use later. They’re a great way to store you fabric scraps and they look fun to make.

What a great gift for the your crafty friend that has everything!

Whenever I see fabric in a basket like this I just start thinking of all the possibilities.  I’m a major basket fan.  And a basket case…Ha!

Film and Thread had this beautiful photo of hanging fabric. How neat and organized. I don’t usually buy that much of each fabric, but this seems like a great idea to save on ironing later. Anything that helps with ironing is a winner in my book!

Retro Mama has it made! I love just looking at beautiful fabric stacked like this! I must admit that I’ve tried to do this, but I’m not capable of folding fabrics and keeping them all the same size. I know, it’s sad. So for now I’ll just have to enjoy photos of fabric displayed so nice and neat.

So many of you said fabric storage was one of your biggest organizational challenges. It’s definitely one of mine! One post isn’t enough for this subject, so there’s more to come!

Right now I have my extra fabric in a box in the closet. I dig through it when I want to find something. Don’t judge…I’m working on it!
