Hey there! My name is Linda with burlap+blue! I am here today to talk about trends on Etsy, and to share a tutorial on how to make your own whitewashed typography flower pots!

As an Etsy seller, it is my job (and yours!) to stay on top of the trends. I want to know what is popular, what is selling, and, conversely, what is not. One big trend I’ve noticed on Etsy and elsewhere lately? Typography. Typography is graphic, it’s versatile, it can go from being modern to shabby to farmhouse to whatever style you are currently into.

And, as a nod to one of the hottest trends around, I present you with these beauties…

Who doesn’t love aqua and red fabric?? {anyone??  I didn’t think so.}  I can see dresses, pillows, headbands and quilts in my mind already.  Michael Miller created a fabulous selection of brightly colored fabrics to help you sew up something beautiful.

Isn’t this Appleville Fat Quarter Bundle cute?  This fabric just makes me smile.  This would make a cute child’s dress…or maybe even one for me.  Hmmm…I better stick to a headband for myself because I wouldn’t want to throw anyone into cute overload when they see me.:)

I love anything  grey and yellow lately.  This sweet flower fabric would look wonderful in my bedroom.

Contemporary Cloth has a extensive collection of home decor fabrics to make your home beautiful. You know you need to add some new pillows to your couch, don’t you!?  This  Ty Pennington would definitely freshen up my living room!

My creative brain seems to get caught up in craft projects and not realize that my home could use a bit of love.  Fabric is the perfect way to add a touch of beauty without breaking the bank!

There’s something about this Vicki Payne poppy fabric that makes me want to sew something pretty…and I’m not a natural at sewing {let’s just leave it at that…ha!}.

The selection of colorful laminates has grown so much…it’s not just fruit any longer!

There are a million cool things you could make wit this Amy Butler Laminate!  A cute little lunch bag or tote would be pretty. Have you ever made anything with a laminate?  I haven’t tried it yet.

Starling Christmas fabric in pink would be beautiful for any Christmas project…I love it!!!

Let me introduce you to Bari J. Ackerman! She’s a fantastic fabric designer, quilting queen, sewing fanatic, embroidery whiz and all around creative gal!

Bari is one of my favorite fabric designers because she uses lots and lots of happy colors and flowers.  You can’t go wrong with that!  Her fabric makes me want to conquer my quilt making fears.

I keep finding myself lost on her blog long enough to realize that I had to share it with all of you.  You know how it is when your coffee gets cold because you forgot you had it…or maybe that just happens to me. Ha!  Well, this is a blog that will do that to you!

When you visit Bari’s blog full of beautiful photos you’ll get a peek at her upcoming fabric line {Paris Apartment}, and don’t miss the office chair from Target that she covered for herself! You will want to make one instantly!
