Score an A+ with this sweet teacher’s necklace!

Share your appreciation with a handmade gift that’s sure to touch any teacher’s heart like they’ve touched yours in the past year.  This necklace is simple and cute!  Create it with your child so they can customize it to fit their style.

Here’s the supplies you’ll need…

• Mod Podge {gloss}
• Scrapbook stickers
• Wooden circles
• Circle metal jewelry finding
• Colorful scrapbook paper {shown below}
• Basic Necklaces
• Paint
• Brushes
• Glue – E6000 {shown below}

These supplies can easily be found at your local craft store.  You might even have a few of these items at home already.

Start by painting your charm with a beautiful color.  You can sand it…or not.  I didn’t and it turned out fine.

Let it dry and paint a second coat.  Be sure to use thin coats and paint the edge.

Print out or type your saying on regular white copy paper.  Copy it and reduce the size to fit your charm. 

Then copy it on you textured scrapbook paper.

Once your charm is dry you can add your saying with a dab of Mod Podge. 

This will hold it in place while you work with it.

Wait a couple minutes and then apply a thick layer of Mod Podge to it. 

I went over the front and the edge of the charm. I only put one coat of Mod Podge.

Once your charm is dry you can add the jewelry finding the the back with your glue.  {This glue is very strong and only takes a drop.}

Let it dry a few minutes and then add a little something special.

I used a shiny button scrapbook sticker, but I glued it to the top.

It’s simple and sweet!  What do you think?

This Simple Bloom Necklace is so easy to make you’ll want to make a few at a time!  I seriously can’t believe I never thought to try this before now.  It only takes a few minutes to make and it’s the perfect DIY gift for mothers, teachers, friends, sisters…you get the idea, right?! 

I almost decided to not do this post because it was so simple, but I hope you you will find a bit of DIY inspiration from it.

It all started when I was working on another project and walking around my local craft store.  They didn’t have everything I needed, so I started to wander the aisles aimlessly…does that ever happen to you?

Anyway, I ran across the prettiest scrapbook stickers made with fabric, felt, and a bit of sparkle.  Well, I just had to make SOMETHING with them…but what?

I didn’t actually know what I was going to do with them until I got home.  I noticed there were two large flowers with matching shapes and the colors looked great next to the new necklaces I bought.  I thought I might be able to stick one on plastic or wood and make a charm.

Then I had that “Aha moment” when I realized I could stick them back to back…super cool!

Here’s the supplies you’ll need to make your own…

• Fabric Scrapbook Stickers
• Jewelry Findings
• A basic necklace {I ended up using a green satin cord necklace…not shown above.}
• Glue {optional}

Take two stickers of the same size and shape and sandwich the jewelry finding between them.  These stickers lined up perfectly.  You could add a bit of glue if you prefer.

This is what you get…I love it!

Make a couple more charms to add to your necklace.  You can trim them a bit if they don’t line up exactly.

And here’s another cool thing about this necklace…you can flip it!

Wear it with the blue flower showing or the green.  It’s so simple and fun!

I honestly got such satisfaction from making this because it turned out so pretty with such little effort!  You gotta love that!!

Your children could make them…anyone can make them in minutes!

One tip…make sure your charm findings will slide over the pre-made necklace findings when you purchase them.  Or you can make your own necklace with satin cord and jewelry findings.  Whatever works best for you.

Lavender sachets are my favorite!  I’ve sold hundred of these beautiful sachets over the last couple years on Etsy…they make the best gifts EVER!  Lavender sachets smell fabulous and you can make them out your favorite designer fabric.  It’s an awesome way to use up those pretty fabric scraps, too!

I thought you might like to make some for yourself…and everyone you know.  Trust me,  once you make them for someone they will ask for more.

This simple sewing project is great for Mother’s Day, teachers, thank you gifts, housewarming gifts…you get the idea.  You can make a bunch of them and to have on hand and ready for the next birthday that sneaks up on you.  So, stock up!

Linen sachets have always been one of my favorites…they match everything and make great wedding favors!

Here’s how to sew up a batch of beautiful sachets for yourself…

• Cut 5” fabric squares {I usually cut a bunch at once}
• Stack two squares with the right side facing inside.

• Start sewing about 3/4 of the way down one side and continue around until you have a couple inches left and backstitch with your machine.  You want to leave a big enough opening to work with, so sew slowly.
• I sew about 1/8” to 1/4” in from the edge.

• Cut the corners off carefully. This helps the corners look nice when it’s finished.
• Flip the sachet to show the right side of the fabric on the outside.
• Flatten a bit and make sure your corners are nice by using your finger to push on the corners from the inside.
• Sew around the edge again leaving the opening the same size.
• I roll up some cardstock to use as a funnel and add my dried lavender using a little scoop.  {You can buy dried lavender right here on Amazon.}

• Be sure not to add too much or it will be hard to sew closed!!
• Shake your sachet to settle the lavender and then hold it carefully while you sew up the opening.

That’s it!

Once you start making these you will want to make a ton!  I have them all over the house and in my closets.  I’ve thrown them in the car…they make it smell wonderful!

You can make small ones to throw in the dryer.  Your clothes will have a nice light scent.  I’ve used them up to 10 times in my dryer.

Get creative with them.  Use embroidered designs, mix and match fabric, use quilted fabric…whatever.  They all look and smell beautiful!

I’ve made hanging sachets like this one…I love turtles.  I usually bundle up two or three sachets with ribbon or twine.

These remind me of little pillows. When you’re finished each sachet measures about 4 inches.

Sometimes I don’t sew around the edge the second time and I get a a chunky sachet {like the linen sachets near the beginning of this post}.  It’s a nice natural look with linen fabric.

Now you know how to make a great little DIY gift!

Valentines Day is my favorite holiday … must be all the hearts and all the pink!

These little notebooks are easy to make and inspired by the cuteness of conversation hearts … all sweet & colorful!

What to gather for this project:

kraft paper, index cards, heart punch, bone folder, stapler (or sewing machine) and mini clothespins.

Start out in a word processing program (I used Microsoft Publisher), divide your sheet into four even sections choose a font you like and print out the words “write me”.  Cut into four sections for the covers.

These colored index cards are my new favorite thing, from Staples, but white 3 x 5 cards would be cute too! First score the covers with a bone folder and a ruler, and fold them in half … then move on and score each index card the same way (i used 3 cards).

Line the cards up inside the cover and trim the bottom of the cover, to resemble a little book.

Sew down the crease with a long stitch length on a sewing machine… a stapler would work well if you don’t sew! Don’t forget to punch a little heart out of the cover …

Use the mini clothespins to hold a pencil inside and keep the pages closed.  Let your kids help you with the assembling process and they can be passed out as Valentines for school… without all the sugar!

Handmade gifts are always a favorite and they’re so much fun to make!  Handmade Honey Soap is simply perfect for hostess gifts, teachers, neighbors and anyone else that could use a little pampering.  Um, I think that’s about 99% of the women I know.  Whenever I make a batch of soap I make few extra for myself, of course.

Making your own soap is a great way to create the perfect soap full of ingredients you can read.  Anyone with sensitive skin or allergies should definitely consider making your own mild soap without irritants.  I’ve made many different varieties over the years and it’s one of my favorite gifts to give during the holidays.

The light honey scent of this soap is wonderful and and the large honey comb molds made it a quick and easy project.  Those are the best kind, right?

I started off with this amazing Honey Bee Soap Making Kit from Lather and Lotions and Soap Mold Works.  They have everything you ever need to make fabulous soap and it ships right to your door…ya gotta love that.  If you already have some soap making supplies and are looking for cool and unique molds that you can’t find in the store…take a look at Soap Mold Works!

Here’s what I used for this lovely soap…

• 1 pound block of Honey Melt Base
• 5-6 drops of Baby Bee Buttermilk Fragrance Oil
• 2-3 drops of Vanilla White Color Stabilizer
• 2-3 drops of Stained Glass Citrus Orange Colorant
• Droppers…if you have them
• Honey Comb Bee Soap Molds

Each pound of soap base and the above ingredients will give you 4 large honey comb bars of soap.

All the steps below can be used with making any kind of soap.  This is the way I’ve been making it for years.  You can easily use a Goat Milk Base or Olive Oil Base with your favorite fragrance.

Cut up the block of soap into small cubes and add them to a microwave safe bowl or measuring cup.  I like to use an extra large measuring cup.

Start by microwaving the soap for 30 seconds.  Stir it up and microwave for 20 seconds at a time until it is completely melted.  You DO NOT want to heat it longer than it needs to melt.  Just make sure you no longer have any lumps of soap before moving onto the next step.

Add your fragrance, color, and stabilizer and gently stir.

I love the color of this soap and it made my house smell sweet and inviting.

Let them set overnight and you are finished!

The soap easily pops out of the mold and you can wrap them up however you want.  I plan to use clear shrink wrap and a bit of twine.  I want to still be able to see the beautiful details and color of this Honey Bee Soap.

Monogram Stationery Makes an Awesome Gift!

Hi it’s me Jaime! wanting to share some inspiration with you today ♥

On my quest to find something different for my girls’ teachers this year,

i stumbled across a neat idea … a thank you note kit for kids …

so that writing thank you notes or birthday cards would be simple

and everything would be in reach all bundled in a little box together.

I thought this would make a wonderful teacher gift,

and with the holidays fast approaching, perfect for a friend or neighbor too!

The supplies and process is very simple… I took out my scrapbook paper stash and chose papers and cards that would look pretty together.

I also used a small 3-ring binder (9 x 7.5) ~ kraft paper for the monograms

scalloped circle paper punch ~ cupcake liners

and some pretty pencils i found in the dollar bins at Michaels.

I started by making pockets, to hold all the goodies, out of chipboard

(heavy cardstock works well also) … cutting them so they would fit inside the binder

folding the pocket, punching holes, then sewing up the edges.

The idea is easy with the picture below as reference …

… now cut the scrapbook paper to fit inside the clear sleeves of the binder.

then add some ribbon around the spine of the binder for embellishment.

To make the cards, I chose a pretty font in my word processing program, copy and pasted the letter, making the first one larger for the outside of the binder (see first picture) then punched them out …

Anything can be used to decorate cards or tags! I love to think outside the box!

I ♥ cupcake wrappers, since they are already pleated, they make a great ruffled paper.

This kit was a birthday gift for a friend, who is a die hard crafter like me!

I included tags and cards in the front pocket, that she could attach to her always lovely handmade gifts .

Don’t forget the pencils ~ tied with some pretty ribbon on the outside and it’s done!

The possibilities are endless with this kind of present … any cards, tags,

or paper goods can go inside.  Maybe a mini calendar & some postage stamps?

• Clear Gel Tacky Glue {I’ve tried other glue and this is my favorite one…just a tip!}
• Scissors
• Fabric scraps – I used a linen type fabric, enough to tear 5 strips measuring 2-2 1/2” wide and 15” in length
• 18-20” chain with connectors and clasp
• Pliers {or you can use a completed chain}

The fabric is easy to rip if you make a tiny cut at the top of your fabric and gently start to tear.  It should tear straight with a nice messy edge.

Make a ton of rosettes and add them to your gifts, make bracelets, decorate your home or create hair accessories.  You’ll be hard to stop once you start!

For this necklace I made 3 large rosettes {finished size 2-2 1/2”} and 2 smaller ones {finished size 1 3/4”}.

Step 1 – Start by folding the fabric in half and roll a tight center…maybe 4 or 5 rolls.

Step 2 – Add glue and start to twist your fabric like shown in the photo above.  Step 3 – Keep working your way around by adding a drop of glue and twisting every half turn or so.  Just try to keep it tight.

Step 4 – Once you reach the desired width of your rosette just cut the strip of fabric with 1-2” of fabric left.

Step 5 – Add a drop of glue to the bottom, center of your rosette {this is where you were holding it to start with}.

Step 6 – Fold the the fabric strip over the bottom of your rosette to secure it.  Trim if needed.

Once you have made all five flowers and they have been able to dry for 24 hours, you can finish your necklace.

Step 7 – Cut your chain to the desired length and attach the clasp with the connectors.

Step 8 – Line up your flower and cut a few pieces of fabric to attach to the back of the rosettes and hold them in the right shape.

Step 9 – Flip your rosettes upside down and glue them to the fabric strips with the chain sandwiched inside.

Step 10 – Let it dry overnight.

Step 11 – Trim away the extra fabric.

 That’s it!

Now you can make one in every color!  I get compliments on it wherever I go and I plan to make a few more for gifts.
