<p>Isn&#8217;t this beautiful? It honestly looks like something out of a love story&#8230;pretty, pretty, pretty!</p>

<p>We spent all day going through boxes and boxes that we&#8217;ve had stored away for so long. There&#8217;s always something I save that ends up getting a little messed up or cracked while being moved around in those big plastic bins. It made me think about how I tend to save some things that I really like all wrapped up and out of sight. Does anyone else do this?</p>
<p><strong>If you have something you love, you should use it!</strong> I plan on using some of the vintage items I rediscoved to hold some of my craft supplies.</p>
<p><strong>I didn&#8217;t find anything like the cabinet in the photo above, but I know someone that can make new things look old&#8230;</strong><a href="www.remodelingguy.net" target="_blank"><strong>Remodeling Guy</strong></a><strong>, my sweet husband. I love that look!</strong></p>

<p>Old toolboxes make a great storage container. I&#8217;ve even seen them mounted on the wall before. <strong>They can be used for storing just about anything and they have character, don&#8217;t you think?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/plates-display-craft-supplies-cp0307-de.jpg" alt="Plates-Display-Craft-Supplies-CP0307-de" width="450" height="575" /></p>
<p>Plates and dishes can be used to display pretty little baubles as inspiration.</p>
<p>I found a beautiful glass bowl and some vintage jars today while I was sorting through our treasures {a.k.a. junk}. They didn&#8217;t make it to the garage sale pile!</p>
<p>Take a look around you house and see what you find. Talk about saving money&#8230;this is the way to go! <strong>Have you rediscovered anything fun lately? Did you look in the closet?</strong></p>
<p><strong>Check back tomorrow for a SUPER GIVEAWAY! You won&#8217;t want to miss it!</strong></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/chalkboard_hanger_project-3.jpg" alt="chalkboard hanger project" width="405" height="539" /></p>
<p><strong>There must be a billion creative ways to organize fabric, so we had to have more than one post about it!</strong> Whether you make hair accessories, home decor, or clothing, we all need to have great fabric storage. There&#8217;s nothing like digging through a box of wrinkled fabric to lose your motivation for starting a new project.</p>
<p>I found this great idea (above) on <a href="http://craftzine.com" target="_blank">Craft</a>.  Make chalkboard hangers to store your fabric on the wall. <strong>It looks great and it works&#8230;what a winning combination.</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/fabric-storage-wall.jpg" alt="fabric-storage-wall" width="450" height="672" /></p>
<p><strong>This system of wooden dowels fits right behind the door.</strong> <a href="http://filmandthread.wordpress.com/category/film/" target="_blank">Film and Thread</a> made fabulous use of her space. Think of all the space you have behind doors&#8230;do you have anything stored there? Maybe you should!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/fabricandcraftstoragebaskets3.jpg" alt="fabric and craft storage baskets 3" width="450" height="554" /></p>
<p><strong>Here&#8217;s a look at some of my stash!</strong> I use baskets for most of my supplies. They look great on the shelf, and I can easily separate everything and keep it close to me.  I can grab what I need without getting up. {Hmmm&#8230;maybe I should move it away for more exercise.} I hardly moved to take these photos, so that explains the poor lighting! <img src='http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>The basket on the left is full of beautiful felt. I enjoy seeing all those  pretty colors when I start to design a new hair clip for <a href="http://www.flashyfish.etsy.com" target="_blank">Flashy Fish</a>. They used to be organized by color, but I gave up on that. <strong>I can only be organized up to a certain point, y&#8217;all!</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/fabricandcraftstoragebaskets.jpg" alt="fabric and craft storage baskets" width="450" height="323" /></p>
<p>The second basket has small pieces of fabric that I keep in individual plastic bags. <em>Why</em>, you might ask? Well, I only use a couple tiny circles of fabric when I make ponytail holders. That leaves me with fabric that&#8217;s cut all funny and doesn&#8217;t fold nicely. YUCK! I started folding each one in a bag, and it worked for me. <strong>I can easily look through them to find the one I need, and they&#8217;re much more manageable.</strong></p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t show you my third basket. It&#8217;s full of slightly larger fabrics, and it looks very similar to the first basket. That&#8217;s for my <a href="http://www.thelavenderroad.etsy.com" target="_blank">lavender sachets</a> that you can see in the top photo.</p>
<p><strong>I did just sell a whole box {over 6 pounds} of fabric on Etsy. It was stashed away in the closet.</strong> I knew I wouldn&#8217;t use it and I was just hanging onto it&#8230;tightly. I let it go! {Oh, and now I have some new fabric on the way from <a href="http://aboveallfabric.com" target="_blank">Above All Fabric</a> to replace it&#8230;he he he.}</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/6a00d83452a9ef53ef010536bd62ae970b-800wi.jpg" alt="6a00d83452a9ef53ef010536bd62ae970b-800wi" width="450" height="336" /></p>
<p><strong>I haven&#8217;t mentioned drawers yet, and they are a wonderful way to store fabric.</strong> <em>Maybe that&#8217;s why they have been selling them for clothing all these years.</em> <a href="http://missquiss.typepad.com/a_pocketful_of_licorice/2009/01/index.html" target="_blank">A Pocket Full of Licorice</a> shares her fabric collection in this photo.</p>
<p><strong>You can even use old, individual drawers for storage.</strong> I&#8217;m sure you can find a few at a garage sale near you. If they&#8217;re ugly, just spray paint them!</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/1199390715_fb0f518e69-1.jpg" alt="1199390715 fb0f518e69" width="450" height="300" /></p>
<p><strong>If you can&#8217;t fit your fabric collection in your room anymore, this idea is for you!</strong> I&#8217;ve always wanted a bathtub like this, and when you load it up with fabric it starts to look even better! I found this <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/vgkchick/1199390715/in/set-72157601598287713/" target="_blank">photo on flickr</a> and I thought it might be helpful to some of you.</p>
<p><strong>If you missed <a href="http://www.everythingetsy.com/2010/01/fabric-storage-inspiration-part-one/" target="_blank">Fabric Storage Inspiration &#8211; Part One</a></strong><strong>&#8230;check it out!</strong></p>
<p>What have you done lately to organize your supplies? I&#8217;d love to hear about it.</p>

And I&#8217;m planning on printing out some of these sweet little labels from <a href="http://justsomethingimade.blogspot.com/2009/07/organizing-fabric-remnants.html" target="_blank">Just Something I Made</a>. Go download some for yourself!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/brochure_300x225.jpg" alt="brochure 300x225" width="450" height="337" /></p>
<p><a href="http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/fabric_brochure" target="_blank">Cut Out and Keep</a> has a great download to help you remember what fabric you have. Hmmm&#8230;anyone out there have this problem? <strong>I can&#8217;t wait to do this&#8230;talk about organized! Woo hoo!</strong></p>
<p>This way I&#8217;ll know exactly the colors I need when I find a sale. That&#8217;s important!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/fabric+storage.jpg" alt="fabric+storage" width="450" height="299" /></p>
<p>Here are some beautiful canvas storage bins at <a href="http://hollysstreet.blogspot.com/2009/07/fabric-organization.html" target="_blank">Holly&#8217;s Street</a>. I use baskets for storage, but this looks so much better. Don&#8217;t you love how pretty the colors look popping out of the top? I could have some fun with this little collection of fabric!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/screenhunter_01dec.2722.49.gif" alt="ScreenHunter 01 Dec. 27 22" width="450" height="308" /></p>
<p><a href="http://sometimescrafter.blogspot.com/2009/04/tutorial-fabric-scrap-basket.html" target="_blank">The Sometimes Crafter</a> will show you how to make these cute fabric scrap baskets. I hate to throw away pieces I might be able to use later. They&#8217;re a great way to store you fabric scraps and they look fun to make.</p>
<p>What a great gift for the your crafty friend that has everything!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/basket-of-fabric-ples-cs1005-de.jpg" alt="Basket-of-Fabric-ples-CS1005-de" width="450" height="575" /></p>
<p>Whenever I see fabric in a basket like this I just start thinking of all the possibilities.  I&#8217;m a major basket fan.  And a <em>basket case</em>&#8230;Ha!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/fabric-storage.jpg" alt="fabric-storage" width="450" height="672" /></p>
<p><a href="http://filmandthread.wordpress.com/category/everything-else/" target="_blank">Film and Thread</a> had this beautiful photo of hanging fabric. How neat and organized. I don&#8217;t usually buy that much of each fabric, but this seems like a great idea to save on ironing later. Anything that helps with ironing is a winner in my book!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/tn_stash3.jpg" alt="tn Stash3" width="450" height="671" /></p>
<p><a href="http://retro-mama.blogspot.com/2009/02/talking-stash.html" target="_blank"><strong>Retro Mama</strong></a><strong> has it made! I love just looking at beautiful fabric stacked like this!</strong> I must admit that I&#8217;ve tried to do this, but I&#8217;m not capable of folding fabrics and keeping them all the same size. I know, it&#8217;s sad. So for now I&#8217;ll just have to enjoy photos of fabric displayed so nice and neat.</p>
<p>So many of you said fabric storage was one of your biggest organizational challenges. It&#8217;s definitely one of mine! One post isn&#8217;t enough for this subject, so there&#8217;s more to come!</p>
<p>Right now I have my extra fabric in a box in the closet. I dig through it when I want to find something. Don&#8217;t judge&#8230;I&#8217;m working on it! <img src='http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><strong>Do you display your fabric, or hide it like me?</strong></p>

<p>Yesterday we talked about a nifty way to organize your ribbon that included a <a href="http://www.everythingetsy.com/?p=1504#comments">Ribbon Ring giveaway</a>. Today we&#8217;ll take a look at some beautiful ways to organize and decorate with your ribbon collection at the same time.</p>
<p><strong>I&#8217;m a big fan of any glass container full of pretty things. Don&#8217;t you love that look? You really can&#8217;t go wrong with this if your collection is small.</strong></p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/6a00e54fa93efa883401156fcd948b970c-500wi.jpg" alt="6a00e54fa93efa883401156fcd948b970c-500wi" width="450" height="675" /></p>
<p>I found this neat idea at <a href="http://triplesee.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/06/index.html" target="_blank">Triple See</a>. I love the color of the frame and the old door knobs! What a creative way to show off your collection of ribbon&#8230;and it&#8217;s even color coordinated!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/ss_100909980.jpg" alt="ss 100909980" width="450" height="600" /></p>
<p><a href="http://www.curbly.com/diy-maven/posts/5879-6-clever-storage-projects-for-holiday-wrapping-supplies" target="_blank">Cubly</a> had this great inspirational photo. I&#8217;ll give you a second or two to dream about it&#8230;.Okay, back to the real world. I don&#8217;t have a space as pretty as this one, but maybe I could use this basket idea somewhere. The colorful ribbon looks great in it. Everything is relaxed, but organized&#8230;pretty, pretty!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/ribbon-spools-stack-fb.jpg" alt="ribbon-spools-stack-fb" width="450" height="449" /></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a quick idea for your craft area, or for wrapping presents without having to search all over for the right ribbon. {I might have that problem on a regular basis.} Paper towel holders are a great way to stack them up and use keep them ready to use.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/rb-hooks_thumb.jpg" alt="RB-hooks thumb" width="450" height="1154" /></p>
<p>What a creative way to hang rolls of ribbon&#8230;a towel holder! You could put this anywhere and it&#8217;s bound to look great! {photo by <a href="http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/articles/Five_Ways_to_Store_Ribbon" target="_blank">Creating Keepsakes</a>}</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/012608_ribbon_pile.jpg" alt="012608 ribbon pile" width="450" height="361" /></p>
<p>Wrap your small scraps of ribbon around wooden clothes pins. I&#8217;ve even seen these in jars&#8230;it makes me feel creative just looking at this photo by <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2008/01/ribbon-jar.html" target="_blank">Inspired Apertrey Ink</a>.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/l_sip936634.jpg" alt="l SIP936634" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p>This collection of ribbon is mounted on the inside of a beautiful yellow craft cabinet that we featured in a <a href="http://www.everythingetsy.com/?p=465" target="_blank">previous post</a>. <strong>If you don&#8217;t have much space, you&#8217;ve got to see it!</strong> It&#8217;s jam packed with great storage ideas!</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve seen shoe boxes turned into ribbon dispensers, small ribbon wrapped around popsicle sticks, plastic storage containers, and so much more.</p>
<p><strong>There are so many ways to store ribbon, how do you do it?</strong></p>
<p>Don&#8217;t forget to check out the <a href="http://www.everythingetsy.com/?p=1504#comments">Ribbon Ring giveaway</a>!</p>

<p>I&#8217;m kinda stuck on pincushions right now! I featured <a href="http://www.everythingetsy.com/?p=928" target="_blank">Heather Bailey&#8217;s beautiful studio</a> recently and fell in love with her strawberry pincushions. Now, I don&#8217;t sew too much, but I had to make one for myself. Isn&#8217;t it cute? I love just looking at it!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/511jfp8nufl._ss500_.jpg" alt="511Jfp8nUfL" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p>I used a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001R4YZNQ?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=remodelinet-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B001R4YZNQ" target="_blank">Heather Bailey pattern</a> to make it, and it was super easy.  Maybe I&#8217;ll try the pear next.</p>
<p>I started noticing pincushions everywhere, so I&#8217;ll share a few of these beauties with you.  <strong>Beware&#8230;you could become addicted!</strong></p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/1.jpg" alt="1" width="450" height="337" /></p>
<p>Jessica at <a href="http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2007/06/tiny-pin-cushion-tutorial.html" target="_blank">How About Orange</a> made these cute little pincushions. She&#8217;ll show you how to make one on her blog. You won&#8217;t believe what she uses for the base!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/p_101145885.jpg" alt="p 101145885" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p>This wildflower pincushion pattern can be found at <a href="http://www.bhg.com/crafts/sewing/projects/wild-flower-pincushion/" target="_blank">Better Homes and Gardens.</a> I&#8217;d love to see one in a black and white damask pattern!</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/il_430xn.90757814.jpg" alt="il 430xN" width="225" height="225" /></p>
<p>Have you ever seen a pincushion ring? This was a first for me&#8230;ya gotta love Etsy!  <a href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=31021930&amp;ref=sr_list_8&amp;&amp;ga_search_query=pincushions&amp;ga_search_type=handmade&amp;ga_page=3&amp;order=date_desc&amp;includes[]=tags&amp;includes[]=title" target="_blank">Art Nest Shop</a> has made pincushions fashionable!</p>
<p><strong>I was blown away by </strong><a href="http://tipnut.com/22-free-pincushion-patterns/" target="_blank"><strong>Tip Nut&#8217;s post</strong></a><strong> with 60 pincushion tutorials! WOW!</strong></p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/screenhunter_01sep.1704.52.gif" alt="ScreenHunter 01 Sep. 17 04" width="230" height="184" align="right" /></p>
<p>Martha Stewart has a video tutorial on making a fabulous <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com/article/teacup-pincushions?autonomy_kw=pincushion" target="_blank">tea cup pincushion</a> from old sweaters!</p>
<p>Now I just need her <a href="http://www.everythingetsy.com/?p=699" target="_blank">giant craft studio</a> so I can store all my supplies nice and neat. I don&#8217;t think she would approve of my overflowing basket method of storage!</p>
<p><strong>A little history {which I&#8217;m sure you have always wanted to know} for you</strong>&#8230;</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #0000a0; font-family: Comic Sans MS;">Pincushions were first recorded in history during the Tudor reign in 15th century England. Metal pins were a very costly and precious items in those early days and before the 15th century were kept in small cases made of bone, ivory, or silver. </span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #0000a0; font-family: Comic Sans MS;">During the Tudor era, simple stuffed shapes started to be used instead of the cases. They began by being made of colorful and elaborately decorated silks and linens, replete with tassels and laces.During the Victorian era there was a great deal of emphasis on the parlor room and it became the perfect place in which to display the novelty pincushions of the era. Pincushions were made in the shape of shoes, fans, dolls, teacups, umbrellas, fruits, and vegetables. They were hung on the walls or placed on occasional tables. {Click <a href="http://www.geocities.com/heartland/lake/2812/bcpincushion.html" target="_blank">here</a> for even more info.}</span></strong></p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/2854756333_b55536b27f.jpg" alt="2854756333 b55536b27f" width="450" height="696" /></p>
<p><strong>And what would a post about pincushion love be without one more photo of strawberry pincushions???</strong> It would take me forever to make this many, but it might just be worth it. Heather Bailey {Should I just start a fan club, or what?} has <a href="http://www.heatherbaileystore.com/category-s/45.htm" target="_blank">pincushion kits</a> available to make it easier for you.</p>
<p>Another great gift idea&#8230;</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/51jiohlr0sl._ss500_-1.jpg" alt="51jioHlR0sL" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p>This title of this book says it all&#8230;<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1600591442?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=remodelinet-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1600591442" target="_blank">Pretty Little Pincushions</a>. It&#8217;s full of beautiful photos and ideas&#8230;kinda like fuel for creative folks!</p>
<p>Sometimes I&#8217;m all about decorating the house or creating an oasis in my backyard, but right now I&#8217;m sewing pincushions!  I love projects that can be done in a hour!  I might have a short attention span. <img src='http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><strong>What kind of stuff are you stuck on?</strong></p>

<p>I&#8217;ve been on vacation from my blog a bit and working on some projects. It was a nice break, but now I&#8217;m back and I have a few fun things coming up.</p>

<p><strong>You can add a touch of inspiration to any wall of your home with beautiful vinyl wall graphics! This was designed by</strong> <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5988949&amp;order=&amp;section_id=6173020&amp;page=2" target="_blank"><strong>Single Stone Studios</strong></a><strong>&#8230;I love it!</strong></p>
<p>Billy and Shelley Howard have  a wonderful Etsy shop full of high quality vinyl decals that can be applied to any smooth and flat surface. So take a look around your room at the walls, doors, and windows and see where you would like to add a little something special.</p>
<p>Here are a few examples&#8230;</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/il-430xn79205969-1.jpg" alt="il 430xN" width="450" height="399" /></p>
<p>Wow! This is so sweet and pretty! Adding vinyl decals to hard to reach spots is much faster, cleaner and easier than painting. What a nice finishing touch to this room.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/il-430xn81755167.jpg" alt="il 430xN" width="450" height="560" /></p>
<p>Everyone spends so much time in the kitchen&#8230;spice it up! Vinyl word art is a great way to decorate that odd space above the stove without spending a lot of bread! <img src='http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/il-430xn82946377.jpg" alt="il 430xN" width="450" height="372" /></p>
<p>I know I have some friends that would love to have this cool chandelier decal!<strong> There are tons of colors</strong> to choose from, and Single Stone Studios is wonderful with custom orders. When you are starting to think you just can&#8217;t find what you have envisioned for that wall&#8230;have Single Stone Studios customize a design for it!</p>
<p><strong>These photos are just a taste of what they have to offer. There are monograms, geckos {I heart this one!}, airplanes, botanicals, and so much more.</strong></p>
<p><img src="http://www.everythingetsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/bhgcover.jpg" alt="BHG+Cover" width="450" height="339" /></p>
<p>I happen to have this magazine, and I thought the vinyl frame decals were out of this world. Then I found out that they were created by Single Stone Studios! <strong>They are on the cover, inside, and are soon to be published in another Better Homes and Gardens publication.</strong> I guess Better Homes and Gardens has them marked as an Etsy favorite too!</p>
<p>Beautiful photos that are sure to inspire you can be found on their blog&#8230;<a href="http://www.singlestonestudios.blogspot.com" target="_blank">www.singlestonestudios.blogspot.com</a>!</p>
